This study aims to determine the effect of using Pictionary game in improving the speaking skill of students in class VIII of SMP YPAK PTPN 3 Gunung Para Dolok Merawan. This research used a quantitative method with a true-experimental method approach. The population of this study were VIII grade students consisting of 3 classes with 134 students, and the sample consisted of 86 students from two classes. Data was collected using pre-tests and post-tests, and analyzed using SPSS version 27.0. The results showed that tcount (5.205) > ttable (1.681) at the significance level α = 0.05 with degrees of freedom (df) = 42, indicating that the null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. The post-test scores were higher than the pre-test scores, concluding that there is a significant difference in improving students speaking skill before and after being given treatment using Pictionary games. Therefore, the use of Pictionary games can effectively improve the speaking skill of students in grade VIII of SMP YPAK PTPN 3 Gunung Para Dolok Merawan, as it increases students creativity and involvement in the learning process.

The study concluded that the use of Pictionary games significantly influences the English-speaking skill of eighth-grade students at SMP YPAK PTPN 3 Gunung Para Dolok Merawan.Students taught with Pictionary games demonstrated a notable improvement in their speaking abilities compared to those using traditional methods.This finding highlights the effectiveness of incorporating game-based learning to enhance student engagement and improve speaking skills.

Further research could explore the long-term effects of using Pictionary games on students speaking proficiency and investigate its applicability across different educational levels and subjects. Additionally, studies could examine the impact of Pictionary games on students motivation and confidence in speaking English, potentially revealing psychological benefits beyond skill improvement. Finally, research could focus on adapting Pictionary games to address specific speaking challenges, such as pronunciation or fluency, tailoring the game mechanics to target particular areas of language development and creating more personalized learning experiences. These investigations would contribute to a deeper understanding of the potential of game-based learning in English language education and provide valuable insights for educators seeking innovative teaching strategies.
