Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, most teaching and learning processes were not conducted in the classroom. Teachers and students engaged in online learning, which presented significant challenges to achieving learning goals. Students experienced difficulties in learning English, particularly in vocabulary acquisition due to limited interaction and exploration opportunities. This research aimed to determine the difference, increase, and effect of Duolingo usage on students vocabulary mastery. A quantitative approach was employed, with a sample of sixty seventh-grade students at MTs PAB 1 Helvetia divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental group received vocabulary instruction using Duolingo, while the control group used a traditional method. Student scores were analyzed using SPSS 20.0 and a T-Test. The findings demonstrated a significant difference, increase, and effect of Duolingo usage on students vocabulary mastery.

The research findings conclusively demonstrate that the utilization of Duolingo has a significant and positive impact on the vocabulary mastery of seventh-grade students at MTs PAB 1 Helvetia.The study revealed a notable difference in vocabulary scores between students who used Duolingo and those who received traditional instruction.Furthermore, the results indicate that Duolingo effectively enhances students vocabulary acquisition, making it a valuable supplementary tool for English language learning.Therefore, integrating Duolingo into the curriculum can be a beneficial strategy for improving students English language skills.

Based on the research findings, future studies could investigate the long-term effects of Duolingo usage on students overall English proficiency, extending beyond vocabulary mastery to encompass grammar, reading comprehension, and writing skills. Additionally, research could explore the effectiveness of Duolingo in diverse learning contexts, such as different school settings or with students of varying English language proficiency levels, to determine its adaptability and scalability. Finally, a comparative study examining Duolingo alongside other language learning applications could provide valuable insights into the relative benefits and drawbacks of each tool, ultimately informing educators decisions about which resources to integrate into their teaching practices to best support student learning and achievement.
