The ability to understand mathematical concepts plays an important role in students skills and success in learning mathematics. However, in reality, quite a few students have the stigma that mathematics is difficult and scary. This causes a low ability to understand mathematical concepts due to the application of learning strategies that are not appropriate to the abstract field of mathematics and the diverse characteristics of students. The application of content differentiation learning can be a solution to this problem. Mathematics learning aims to turn abstract reasoning into concrete. Visual media as a tool in the differentiated learning process can help students think concretely, explore various mathematical concepts, encourage students to participate actively, and provide meaningful experiences in the learning process to increase understanding of mathematical concepts. The aim of this research is to analyze the relationship between differentiated learning and students ability to understand concepts in geometry material on the data side in visual form. This research refers to descriptive research with a qualitative approach with a literature review method through exploration of articles related to the research topic. Then carry out research sourced from trusted literature, namely articles, books and research results from experts to answer how the application of differentiation learning with visual media affects students ability to understand concepts in Polyhedron Material.

The application of visual media has been proven to improve the ability to understand mathematical concepts among junior high school students.The success of visual media is measured by its attractiveness, effectiveness, validity, and significant improvement in learning outcomes.Careful planning, including integrating visual media into the curriculum and adjusting learning methods, is crucial for its effective implementation.This approach can help overcome the stigma of mathematics as a difficult subject and reduce student anxiety in learning mathematics.

Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, terdapat beberapa saran penelitian lanjutan yang dapat dilakukan. Pertama, penelitian lebih lanjut dapat dilakukan untuk menginvestigasi dampak penggunaan berbagai jenis media visual yang lebih interaktif, seperti simulasi 3D atau augmented reality, terhadap pemahaman konsep geometri siswa. Kedua, penelitian dapat difokuskan pada pengembangan model pembelajaran berdiferensiasi yang lebih komprehensif, yang tidak hanya mempertimbangkan gaya belajar visual, tetapi juga gaya belajar auditori dan kinestetik, serta bagaimana mengintegrasikan penilaian formatif secara efektif dalam proses pembelajaran. Ketiga, penelitian lanjutan perlu dilakukan untuk mengeksplorasi bagaimana pembelajaran berdiferensiasi dengan media visual dapat diterapkan pada materi matematika yang lebih kompleks, seperti aljabar atau kalkulus, serta bagaimana hal ini dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar dan keterampilan pemecahan masalah siswa. Penelitian-penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi signifikan dalam meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran matematika di tingkat sekolah menengah pertama dan mengatasi tantangan-tantangan yang terkait dengan pemahaman konsep matematika yang abstrak.
