This research aims to investigate the effectiveness of Duolingo as an English learning platform based on students feedback. The study utilized a mixed-method approach with both quantitative and qualitative data collected through online questionnaires. A total of 22 students participated in the study, consisting of individuals who have used Duolingo as their English learning platform. The findings indicate that the majority of students used Duolingo to improve their language skills for work/school, with an overall interest in learning the English language. The majority of students also had the expectation to improve their overall English proficiency and felt that Duolingo has been effective in improving their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. The study found that students rated Duolingo as very effective or quite effective in improving their English proficiency, with a high level of confidence in their English proficiency after using Duolingo. Furthermore, the qualitative data showed that Duolingos effectiveness is attributed to its user-friendly interface, engaging features, and flexibility.

In conclusion, the research evaluated the effectiveness of Duolingo as an English learning platform through a review of studies and user feedback.The findings indicated that most participants used Duolingo to enhance their English skills for academic or professional purposes, and they felt it was effective, particularly in speaking.Students reported confidence in their English proficiency after using the platform.Therefore, Duolingo is a valuable tool for language learners, and defining specific learning goals can maximize its benefits.

Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, terdapat beberapa saran penelitian lanjutan yang dapat dilakukan. Pertama, penelitian lebih lanjut dapat dilakukan untuk mengeksplorasi efektivitas Duolingo dalam konteks pembelajaran bahasa Inggris yang berbeda, seperti pada siswa dengan tingkat kemampuan yang berbeda atau dalam lingkungan pembelajaran formal dan informal. Kedua, penelitian dapat difokuskan pada pengembangan fitur-fitur Duolingo yang lebih spesifik untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara, seperti latihan percakapan interaktif atau umpan balik yang dipersonalisasi. Ketiga, penelitian dapat menyelidiki dampak penggunaan Duolingo terhadap motivasi dan kepercayaan diri siswa dalam belajar bahasa Inggris, serta bagaimana hal ini dapat dioptimalkan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar. Penelitian-penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan wawasan yang lebih mendalam tentang potensi Duolingo sebagai alat pembelajaran bahasa Inggris yang efektif dan inovatif, serta membantu para pendidik dan siswa dalam memaksimalkan manfaatnya.
