The service activity of UMALA Metro lecturers and students in Tanjung Harapan Village aims to provide an alternative to the waste problem, particularly inorganic waste, by giving it economic value and increasing the creativity of students at TPQ Al Ikhlas in making handicrafts from mineral water bottle caps. The program utilizes a Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, focusing on reducing waste and transforming it into useful and artistic creations. The results demonstrate that the use of waste materials enhances student creativity through recycling, producing items with both artistic and economic value. The introduction of the PAR method, employing the 5T approach (To Know, To Understand, To Plan, To Action, To Reflection), provides an effective solution to the waste problem by fostering crafting as a form of student creativity.

The community service program successfully engaged students in processing waste into crafts, fostering positive activities and providing a means to create useful, economically valuable products. The initiative addressed the prevalent issue of waste disposal in Tanjung Harapan village, shifting from destructive practices like burning or dumping to a more sustainable approach through recycling.By utilizing readily available materials like mineral water bottle caps, the program stimulated creativity and offered a practical solution for waste management, with the potential for long-term sustainability and economic benefit for the community.

Based on the findings, future research could explore the scalability of this waste-to-crafts model to other villages facing similar environmental challenges, investigating the factors that contribute to successful implementation and community adoption. Furthermore, a study could assess the long-term economic impact of these crafts on the local community, examining the potential for establishing small businesses and generating income through the sale of recycled products. Finally, research could focus on developing more innovative and sustainable techniques for processing different types of waste materials into higher-value crafts, potentially incorporating local artistic traditions and cultural elements to enhance their marketability and appeal, thereby promoting both environmental responsibility and cultural preservation within the community.
