Al-Tanzim: Jurnal Manajemen Pendidikan IslamAl-Tanzim: Jurnal Manajemen Pendidikan IslamThis study analyzes the implementation of Internal Quality Assurance Standards (SPMI) in pesantren to identify its impact on graduate quality and community satisfaction. The research design used a mixed-method sequential explanatory approach. The quantitative phase involved 457 respondents and was analyzed using SmartPLS to examine the influence of SPMI on graduate quality and community satisfaction. The qualitative phase was conducted through in-depth interviews with kiai (Islamic scholars), teachers, and alums to interpret the quantitative results and explore the value-based quality practices of pesantren. The quantitative results showed that SPMI had a more substantial influence on graduate quality (β = 0.72; R² = 0.52), while the most dominant influence on community satisfaction was found in pesantren (β = 0.70; R² = 0.51). Qualitative findings confirmed these results by identifying integrative curriculum practices, spiritual-moral guidance (tadib), life skills development, and the social contributions of pesantren. These findings confirm that SPMI in pesantren is not merely an administrative instrument but a systemic strategy that integrates academic, spiritual, moral, and social dimensions. This study provides new insights into variations in SPMI implementation in pesantren and offers a quality assurance model that is contextual and aligned with Islamic scientific traditions.
The study demonstrates that SPMI functions as both a measurable organizational system and a culturally embedded pedagogical practice within pesantren.Quantitative results reveal a strong association between SPMI and graduate quality, as well as community satisfaction.Qualitative insights highlight the importance of practices like tadib, classical text mastery, structured worship, and life skills development in shaping quality assurance within the pesantrens moral-spiritual ecosystem.Ultimately, this research underscores the need for strengthened teacher development, integrated curriculum design, and alumni-driven quality reinforcement to enhance the effectiveness of SPMI in pesantren.
Based on the findings, future research should explore the long-term impact of SPMI on alumni career trajectories and societal contributions, moving beyond immediate graduate outcomes to assess the sustained value of pesantren education. Furthermore, studies could investigate the effectiveness of different SPMI implementation models across diverse pesantren contexts, considering variations in size, resources, and educational philosophy to identify best practices. Finally, research should focus on developing and testing spirituality-based SPMI frameworks that explicitly integrate Islamic values and ethics into quality assurance processes, fostering a holistic approach to educational excellence that aligns with the unique identity of pesantren.
