This study aims to examine the effect of the debate method on improving critical thinking skills and emotional regulation of 11th-grade students at UPT SMAN 9 Jeneponto. Using a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, the research involved two classes of 32 students each. The results showed a significant improvement in the experimental class; students with high scores increased from 8 (25%) to 24 (75%), while the control class only increased from 7 (21.88%) to 9 (28.13%). In terms of emotional regulation, 26 students in the experimental class were categorized as good to very good, while the majority in the control class were in the poor category. The debate method proved effective in enhancing critical thinking and emotional regulation skills.

The debate method in learning Pancasila education significantly and positively influences the emotional management of eleventh-grade students at UPT SMAN 9 Jeneponto.Through the debate process, students learn to control their emotions, express opinions calmly, and respect differing viewpoints, leading to increased emotional intelligence.This research demonstrates that debate not only develops intellectual skills but also fosters character and emotional maturity in the context of Pancasila education.

Further research could explore the long-term effects of the debate method on students emotional regulation skills beyond the classroom setting, potentially tracking their behavior in social and civic contexts. Additionally, studies could investigate the optimal implementation strategies for the debate method, considering factors such as class size, teacher training, and the complexity of debate topics to maximize its impact on emotional intelligence. Finally, research could examine the effectiveness of integrating the debate method with other pedagogical approaches, such as collaborative learning or project-based learning, to create a more holistic and engaging learning experience that fosters both cognitive and emotional development in students, ultimately contributing to the formation of well-rounded and responsible citizens.
