This study is entitled Discourse on Comedy Serving Ubrug Sentra Agata in the play Rahwana Nganjor, which was staged during the West Java and Banten Landslide Festival in 2015. The object of the study uses the video media of performance documentation and the focus of the study is discussing discourse in comedy presentations on the play Rahwana Nganjor. The play Rahwana Nganjor carries the theme of wayang in the Ramayana epic, the war between the Kingdom of Alengka and the Kingdom of Ayodhya is used as the setting for the event in this play. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews, observation, and information contained in the audiovisual. Critical Discourse Analysis Van A, Dijk is used to examine the discourse in the comedy presentation by paying attention to three dimensions, including Text Dimensions, Social Cognition, and Social Context. So that the data obtained that social issues in the community is used as the basis for creating comedy in Ubrug Sentra Agata.

The Rahwana Nganjor play criticizes issues of unity and integrity in the development and empowerment of culture in Pandeglang, Banten, particularly in the context of the ngadu bedug tradition.The play packages this critique through the Ramayana epic, utilizing puppet-like characterization and musical arrangements.Social issues serve as the foundation for comedic discourse employed by Sentra Agata, demonstrating how Ubrug, as a traditional theater form with a comedic genre, functions as a medium for raising awareness of social norms and values within the community.

Penelitian lanjutan dapat dilakukan dengan mengeksplorasi lebih dalam bagaimana penggunaan bahasa lokal, khususnya dialek Pandeglang, memengaruhi pemahaman dan apresiasi penonton terhadap komedi Ubrug. Selain itu, studi komparatif dapat dilakukan dengan menganalisis Ubrug Sentra Agata dibandingkan dengan bentuk komedi tradisional lainnya di Indonesia untuk mengidentifikasi persamaan dan perbedaan dalam teknik dan pesan yang disampaikan. Terakhir, penelitian dapat berfokus pada dampak sosial dan politik dari komedi Ubrug, khususnya bagaimana pertunjukan ini dapat digunakan sebagai alat untuk mengkritik isu-isu sosial atau mempromosikan perubahan positif dalam masyarakat Pandeglang dan Banten. Penelitian-penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan pemahaman yang lebih komprehensif tentang peran dan signifikansi Ubrug sebagai bentuk seni pertunjukan yang unik dan relevan dalam konteks sosial budaya Indonesia.
