This paper explores the dynamics of transnational dawah and community empowerment through the case of Pesantren An-Nahdloh in Malaysia, a pesantren established by Indonesian Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) migrants. The central question concerns how a pesantren initiated and funded by migrant workers can function as a medium of dawah and social empowerment beyond national borders. Positioned within the discourse of transnational Islamic movements and grassroots religious communication, this study adopts a qualitative-descriptive method using document analysis and contextual observation. The discussion reveals that the pesantren operates not only as an Islamic educational institution but also as a center for dawah bil hal addressing social, moral, and educational needs of Indonesian migrant communities. This model demonstrates how dawah institutions initiated by civil society actors can facilitate cultural resilience, religious moderation, and local empowerment in diaspora settings.

Pesantren An-Nahdloh exemplifies a form of transnational dawah rooted in community-based empowerment and religious moderation, presenting a viable model for dawah practices among migrant communities worldwide. The pesantren effectively bridges traditional religious education with modern outreach methods, meeting the spiritual needs of Indonesian migrant workers.Through its innovative use of technology and a focus on social action, the pesantren fosters a sense of belonging and solidarity within the migrant community.

Further research should investigate the long-term socio-economic impact of dawah initiatives on migrant integration and contributions to host country communities. Exploring how dawah practices can adapt to technological advancements and changing migration patterns is crucial, particularly leveraging AI for personalized religious education and immersive experiences. Additionally, studies should examine the intersection of dawah and local cultural practices to understand how Islamic teachings can be effectively transmitted across diverse contexts, building upon the pesantrens success in integrating Islam Nusantara principles with the needs of the migrant community. These investigations will contribute to a deeper understanding of how community-driven dawah can sustainably address the challenges faced by diasporic Muslims and foster positive social change.
