This study examines the urgency of Quran memorization programs in urban communities through a qualitative library-based approach, employing thematic analysis of relevant academic sources. Modernization and secularization in urban environments have significantly influenced the spiritual and moral orientation of younger generations, thereby creating increasingly complex challenges in character formation. The results of the literature review indicate that Quran memorization programs play a strategic role in shaping Quranic character through the internalization of religious values and moral development. The implementation of these programs has evolved into various models, including tahfidz houses, integrated Islamic schools, and digital tahfidz communities, with their effectiveness influenced by family support, educator competence, facility readiness, and adaptability to the digital environment. The main challenges identified include limited participant time, inadequate supporting facilities, and pressure from a less conducive digital culture. Therefore, strengthening tahfidz programs in urban areas requires strategic institutional management, enhanced educator capacity, targeted integration of digital technology, and supportive public policies. This research contributes to the field of Islamic education by reinforcing the conceptual understanding of the strategic role of tahfidz al-Quran in shaping Quranic character within urban society.

Quran memorization (tahfidz al-Quran) programs demonstrate strategic urgency in urban societies characterized by fast-paced lifestyles, social pressures, and the influence of globalization, all of which contribute to the moral vulnerability and identity challenges faced by younger generations.The findings of this study indicate that tahfidz al-Quran functions effectively as a means of forming Quranic character through processes of memorization, habituation, and internalization of Quranic values, fostering discipline, perseverance, and religious commitment among students from an early age.Accordingly, local governments are encouraged to support the development of Rumah Tahfidz and Quran memorization programs through supportive policies, educator training, and the provision of adequate facilities, ensuring optimal program implementation in urban communities.

Berdasarkan penelitian ini, terdapat beberapa saran penelitian lanjutan yang dapat dikembangkan. Pertama, perlu adanya penelitian kualitatif mendalam yang mengeksplorasi pengalaman keluarga dalam mendukung anak-anaknya mengikuti program tahfidz al-Quran di tengah kesibukan perkotaan. Penelitian ini dapat mengungkap strategi efektif yang dapat diterapkan oleh keluarga untuk mengatasi kendala waktu dan menjaga motivasi anak. Kedua, penelitian kuantitatif dapat dilakukan untuk mengukur dampak program tahfidz al-Quran terhadap perkembangan karakter siswa, seperti disiplin, kejujuran, dan rasa tanggung jawab, dengan menggunakan instrumen yang terstandarisasi. Hasil penelitian ini dapat memberikan bukti empiris yang lebih kuat mengenai manfaat program tahfidz al-Quran. Ketiga, penelitian komparatif dapat dilakukan untuk membandingkan efektivitas berbagai model program tahfidz al-Quran (rumah tahfidz, sekolah terpadu, komunitas digital) dalam membentuk karakter siswa di berbagai konteks perkotaan. Penelitian ini dapat memberikan rekomendasi mengenai model program yang paling sesuai untuk berbagai kebutuhan dan karakteristik masyarakat urban.
