This study aims to describe the character of Pan Balang Tamak and explore the moral values embedded in the narrative, including cleverness, wisdom, and critique of social injustice. The qualitative research method employed involves a descriptive analysis of the literary text, with a focus on character development and interactions within the cultural context of Bali. The findings reveal that the character of Pan Balang Tamak not only illustrates the complexity of human nature but also conveys relevant moral messages, such as the importance of critical thinking and resistance to injustice. This character inspires younger generations to understand and challenge unjust social norms, while also imparting values of wisdom and creativity essential for navigating the challenges of the modern era. Thus, this study affirms the importance of preserving classical literature as an educational medium capable of shaping societal character and safeguarding cultural heritage.
The study concludes that Pan Balang Tamak embodies a unique combination of intelligence, wisdom, humor, and a critical stance against injustice.This character not only survived difficult situations through clever strategies but also symbolized resistance against unfair policies and norms in society.Through a humorous and sarcastic approach, he conveyed social criticism effectively, making the moral messages accessible.Ultimately, the study highlights the relevance of Pan Balang Tamak as a source of cultural identity, moral education, and a reminder of the importance of combining intelligence with ethical values in navigating complex social dynamics.
Penelitian lanjutan dapat dilakukan dengan mengeksplorasi lebih dalam representasi perempuan dalam cerita Pan Balang Tamak, menganalisis bagaimana karakter perempuan berinteraksi dengan Pan Balang Tamak dan bagaimana interaksi tersebut mencerminkan norma gender pada masa itu. Selain itu, studi komparatif dapat dilakukan dengan membandingkan karakter Pan Balang Tamak dengan tokoh-tokoh cerdik dalam sastra tradisional dari daerah lain di Indonesia, untuk mengidentifikasi persamaan dan perbedaan dalam representasi kecerdikan dan kritik sosial. Terakhir, penelitian dapat berfokus pada adaptasi modern dari cerita Pan Balang Tamak dalam berbagai media, seperti film, teater, atau seni digital, untuk memahami bagaimana nilai-nilai dan pesan moral dalam cerita tersebut dapat diinterpretasikan dan direlevansikan bagi audiens kontemporer, serta bagaimana adaptasi tersebut dapat berkontribusi pada pelestarian dan penyebaran warisan budaya Bali.
