The purpose of this research is to find out the teachers learning strategy in teaching reading skill at eleventh grade students of SMA Yayasan Perguruan Keluarga. This was research with a qualitative approach. The design is a case study. The informants were two English teachers of the eleventh grade of SMA Yayasan Perguruan Keluarga. The technique of collecting data in this research is by doing observation, recording, and interview. The data analysis result showed that the English teachers applied two strategies, namely QAR (Question Answer Relationship) and scaffolding in teaching reading skill as the main strategies or the dominant. It could be happened because with QAR strategy can make the students to think before answering a question, and the question also have the connection with a text, so the student would be easy to answer the question, they also can see the answer based on the text that they read before.

Based on the data analysis, English teachers primarily utilized two strategies – QAR (Question Answer Relationship) and scaffolding – as core methods for teaching reading comprehension. The QAR strategy was dominant among the teachers at the eleventh grade of SMA Yayasan Perguruan Keluarga. Both teachers favored QAR because it encourages students to think critically before answering questions, connecting them to the text and facilitating easier comprehension.

Further research should investigate the long-term impact of QAR and scaffolding strategies on students reading comprehension and motivation. Additionally, studies could explore how these strategies can be adapted to address the diverse learning needs of students with varying reading levels and learning styles. A promising avenue for future research involves examining the effectiveness of integrating digital tools and technologies to enhance the implementation of QAR and scaffolding in reading instruction. Specifically, researchers could investigate how interactive platforms or online resources can support students in applying these strategies independently and collaboratively. Finally, it would be beneficial to conduct comparative studies examining the effectiveness of QAR and scaffolding in relation to other established reading comprehension strategies, such as reciprocal teaching or think-alouds, to determine which approaches yield the most significant gains in student learning. These investigations should consider contextual factors, such as classroom environment and teacher training, to provide a comprehensive understanding of best practices in reading instruction.
