Adolescence is a transitional period marked by significant changes, often accompanied by difficulties in managing emotions, increasing the risk of mental disorders. Interviews revealed low emotional regulation skills among fourth and fifth-grade students. This community service activity implemented pranayama yoga, a breathing technique known to improve emotional stability. Evaluations using the DERS-SF instrument before and after the intervention showed a significant decrease in students experiencing high emotional regulation difficulties (from 96% to 66%), with a statistically significant drop in the average DERS score. In conclusion, pranayama yoga is an effective, safe, and applicable complementary approach to support mental health in schools.

This community service activity demonstrated that pranayama yoga significantly improved emotional regulation abilities among elementary school students.The evaluation results, using the DERS-SF instrument, showed a notable decrease in students experiencing high emotional regulation difficulties after the intervention.These findings suggest that pranayama yoga can be a valuable and accessible complementary approach to supporting mental health within a school setting.

Penelitian lebih lanjut perlu dilakukan untuk menguji efektivitas pranayama yoga pada kelompok usia yang lebih beragam, termasuk remaja dan dewasa muda, untuk melihat apakah manfaatnya konsisten di berbagai tahap perkembangan. Selain itu, penting untuk mengeksplorasi jenis-jenis yoga pranayama yang berbeda dan menentukan teknik mana yang paling efektif untuk mengatasi masalah emosi tertentu, seperti kecemasan atau depresi. Terakhir, penelitian di masa depan dapat menyelidiki bagaimana integrasi pranayama yoga ke dalam kurikulum sekolah secara rutin dapat memengaruhi kesejahteraan mental siswa dalam jangka panjang, serta mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor kontekstual yang dapat memfasilitasi atau menghambat keberhasilan implementasi program ini di berbagai lingkungan sekolah. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan wawasan yang lebih mendalam tentang potensi pranayama yoga sebagai alat preventif dan intervensi untuk meningkatkan kesehatan mental dan emosional di kalangan generasi muda.
