Environmental management and village cleanliness through social movements in community empowerment efforts in Sei Nagalawan Village are still constrained by limited capacity, low community knowledge, and weak partnerships. This situation needs to be addressed through community service programs designed to empower the PKK Womens Group, village Posyandu cadres, and the broader community by providing outreach and awareness-raising on the importance of maintaining a clean, waste-free environment. The objectives of this program are to reduce waste generation, increase knowledge on waste management, and strengthen local institutions for fostering community-based social movements. The methods used include socialization, training on environmental management, and a participatory approach integrating the role of local institutions. The results demonstrate increased community motivation to manage waste and maintain clean household yards through social movement-based approaches.

The community-based environmental empowerment program in Sei Nagalawan Village successfully generated enthusiasm and active participation from key community members. The program demonstrated potential for improving waste management practices, village aesthetics, and environmental cleanliness, with emerging ideas for waste-based economic units.Furthermore, the program strengthened local institutional roles in mobilizing environmental action, fostering a community-driven environmental social movement. To ensure sustainability, continued multi-stakeholder support from village governments, universities, and regional administrations is essential.

Based on the findings, future research should explore the long-term impact of community-based environmental empowerment programs on household waste reduction behaviors and environmental quality. Furthermore, investigating the scalability of this model to other rural villages with similar socio-economic contexts is crucial, considering variations in local governance structures and community dynamics. Another promising avenue for research involves examining the potential for integrating waste management initiatives with local economic development strategies, such as establishing small-scale recycling enterprises or eco-tourism ventures, to create sustainable livelihoods and incentivize community participation. These studies should employ mixed-methods approaches, combining quantitative data on waste generation and disposal rates with qualitative insights from community members and local leaders to provide a comprehensive understanding of the programs effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. Ultimately, a deeper understanding of these factors will contribute to the development of more effective and sustainable environmental management practices in rural Indonesia.
