Esai writing is an activity that requires complex skills, so not many students have an interest in writing essays. Despite the fact that students are required to be able to write ideas in order to be able to do various writing assignments at school, there is not much time and opportunity to develop essay writing skills. The purpose of this Community Service (PKM) is to provide insight and essay writing skills through training and essay writing assistance to students of all members of the journalism and literacy extracurricular MAN 5 Jombang. After being given training, students will carry out guided practice and assistance will be provided until the goal is achieved. The activity was attended by 16 students and was accompanied by a journalism and literacy extracurricular supervisor teacher. All participants were able to absorb knowledge material about writing essays, but in the practice of writing essays, there were still some obstacles. Assistance is carried out for one month by monitoring progress through distance learning and helping to find solutions if obstacles are found. Obstacles that arise include how to write a thesis statement, determine a position consistently whether to be in a position to agree or not. The participants also experienced difficulties in how to develop content paragraphs, especially in writing rebuttals or rebattles. With explanation and guidance in the mentoring process, these problems can be resolved properly. It can be concluded that with the essay writing training activities, students who are members of journalism and literacy in MAN 5 Jombang can produce better essay writing.

Dengan adanya kegiatan pelatihan penulisan essai, siswa anggota jurnalistik dan literasi MAN 5 Jombang dapat menghasilkan tulisan esai yang lebih baik.Kegiatan ini memberikan manfaat besar bagi peningkatan prestasi siswa dan kualitas madrasah.Kerjasama dengan guru, khususnya guru mapel yang berkaitan dengan pengembangan literasi dan jurnalistik siswa, diharapkan dapat terus ditingkatkan untuk meningkatkan kualitas literasi dan jurnalistik siswa secara keseluruhan.

Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan observasi, terdapat beberapa saran penelitian lanjutan yang dapat dikembangkan. Pertama, penelitian lebih lanjut dapat dilakukan untuk menginvestigasi efektivitas berbagai metode pembelajaran penulisan esai, seperti pendekatan berbasis proyek atau pembelajaran kolaboratif, dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis esai siswa. Kedua, penelitian kuantitatif dapat dilakukan untuk mengukur dampak pelatihan penulisan esai terhadap motivasi dan kepercayaan diri siswa dalam menulis. Ketiga, penelitian kualitatif dapat dilakukan untuk mengeksplorasi pengalaman siswa dalam proses penulisan esai, termasuk tantangan yang dihadapi dan strategi yang digunakan untuk mengatasinya. Dengan menggabungkan ketiga saran ini, diharapkan dapat diperoleh pemahaman yang lebih komprehensif tentang bagaimana meningkatkan kemampuan menulis esai siswa secara efektif dan berkelanjutan, serta memberikan kontribusi positif terhadap pengembangan literasi di kalangan siswa.
