This study aims to analyze the need for digital comic teaching materials for Limatara folklore in an effort to increase reading interest in grade 7.6 students of SMPN 1 Sidoharjo. Generation Z, as todays students, requires learning media that suits their characteristics and learning styles. The results of the study indicate that there is a significant need for the development of teaching materials that are interesting, interactive, and relevant to the digital world. Digital comics are seen as effective media because they can be presented online via devices such as mobile phones, making them more practical and easier to access compared to printed teaching materials. By utilizing available technology, digital comics can increase students motivation and interest in reading folklore materials, especially Limatara folklore. Therefore, the development of teaching materials in the form of digital comics is highly recommended as an innovative alternative in learning Indonesian.

Based on the research results, it can be concluded that Generation Z students require teaching materials that align with their learning styles to strengthen their understanding of Limatara folklore.The needs analysis reveals a demand for developing learning media, specifically digital comics, to enhance reading interest among these students.Utilizing available technology, digital comics offer a practical and accessible learning tool, making them a highly suitable medium to encourage students to read more diligently.

Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, beberapa saran penelitian lanjutan dapat diajukan. Pertama, penelitian lebih lanjut dapat dilakukan untuk menguji efektivitas digital comic sebagai media pembelajaran terhadap peningkatan minat baca dan pemahaman materi folklor Limatara pada siswa SMP. Penelitian ini dapat menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan kelompok kontrol untuk membandingkan hasil belajar siswa yang menggunakan digital comic dengan siswa yang menggunakan metode pembelajaran konvensional. Kedua, penelitian dapat difokuskan pada pengembangan model desain digital comic yang paling menarik dan efektif untuk siswa generasi Z. Hal ini dapat melibatkan analisis preferensi visual, naratif, dan interaktif siswa, serta pengujian berbagai format dan fitur digital comic. Ketiga, penelitian lanjutan dapat mengeksplorasi potensi penggunaan digital comic dalam pembelajaran budaya lokal lainnya, tidak hanya folklor Limatara. Penelitian ini dapat mengidentifikasi strategi adaptasi dan pengembangan konten yang sesuai dengan karakteristik budaya yang berbeda, serta mengukur dampaknya terhadap pemahaman dan apresiasi siswa terhadap warisan budaya.
