The decrease in the number of tourists in DIY Province, especially the Malioboro area, which occurred during the Covid-19 pandemic, resulted in reduced local revenues for the DIY provincial government. This study investigates the impact of the relocation policy of street vendors (PKL) in Malioboro on tourists buying interest and local income. Utilizing a survey method with DIY travelers, the research found that the store atmosphere did not significantly affect buying interest, while location and experiential marketing positively influenced it. The findings suggest that increased local revenue is linked to the rise in tourist numbers following the relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions.

The research concludes that the relocation of the Malioboro PKL has a positive influence on tourists buying interest through favorable location and experiential marketing.The study demonstrates that the new location is considered strategic and accessible, thereby increasing tourists willingness to shop.Furthermore, the relocation did not diminish the positive experiences tourists associate with Malioboro, ultimately contributing to increased local revenue.

Based on the research findings, further studies could explore the specific aspects of experiential marketing that most effectively enhance tourists buying interest in the relocated Malioboro area. Furthermore, investigating the effectiveness of different store atmosphere designs and their impact on purchasing decisions would contribute valuable insights. Another promising avenue for research would be the examination of the long-term sustainability of the relocated PKL, particularly concerning its impact on the livelihoods of vendors and the overall economic health of the surrounding community. Analyzing the socio-cultural impact of the relocation on tourists and local residents would also provide a more holistic understanding of its consequences. Considering the digital transformation of tourism, a study exploring the role of online marketing and social media in promoting the relocated Malioboro area to a wider audience could bring novel ideas to achieve better tourist attraction and local income growth.
