This research fills a knowledge gap in internal communication and employee engagement research within the Nigerian banking sector.

The study concludes that internal communication significantly enhances employee engagement within First Bank PLC in Onitsha, Anambra State.Effective feedback mechanisms, clear messaging, and a positive communication climate all contribute to improved employee commitment, motivation, and involvement. These findings underscore that when employees feel heard, understand their roles, and operate in an environment of open and respectful communication, they are more likely to be enthusiastic and dedicated to the organizations success.

Further research should explore the impact of different internal communication channels (e.g., digital platforms, face-to-face meetings) on employee engagement levels, considering generational differences and technological proficiency among staff. Additionally, a qualitative study could delve deeper into the lived experiences of employees regarding internal communication, uncovering nuanced perspectives on what constitutes effective communication and a positive communication climate within First Bank PLC. Finally, longitudinal research is needed to assess the long-term effects of implementing improved internal communication strategies on key organizational outcomes such as employee retention, customer satisfaction, and overall bank performance, providing a more comprehensive understanding of the return on investment for communication initiatives. These investigations, building upon the current studys findings, will provide actionable insights for First Bank PLC and other financial institutions seeking to optimize their internal communication practices and cultivate a highly engaged workforce.
