This article aims to investigate and analyze the potential of the hospitality industry by comparing the potential occupancy rates and hotel revenues of foreign and domestic tourists. This investigation uses an investigation of company data obtained from reports from hotel companies throughout Indonesia which are listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange and secondary data obtained from world banks and other reliable data. This study uses behavioral data analysis using Threshold Autoregressive from 2000 to 2019. It was found that domestic tourists are a new hope that needs to be considered in surviving and restoring the hospitality industry after being exposed to the COVID-19 pandemic which has led hotel companies temporarily closed operations and part of the hotel went bankrupt. Optimization of domestic tourists allowed the hotel industry to develop rapidly after the Covid-19 pandemic ended.

Domestic tourists represent a new source of hope for the financial recovery of the hospitality industry.Based on the estimation of the Autoregressive Threshold model from 2000 to 2019, domestic tourists in Indonesia contribute higher revenue and hotel occupancy rates compared to foreign tourists. This indicates a potential for growth in the hotel industry following the conclusion of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Further research could explore the specific strategies hotels can employ to cater to the preferences of domestic tourists, considering cultural nuances and travel patterns. Another avenue for investigation is the role of technology in enhancing the domestic tourism experience, such as the development of mobile applications for local attractions or personalized travel recommendations. Finally, studies could examine the long-term impact of the pandemic on the hotel industrys financial performance, including the effectiveness of government support programs and the adaptation of business models to a new normal, focusing on sustainability and resilience in the face of future disruptions. These studies should consider the unique characteristics of the Indonesian tourism market and the evolving needs of both domestic and international travelers, contributing to a more robust and adaptable hospitality sector.
