The elderly population is increasing rapidly worldwide, including in Indonesia, leading to significant health, social, and economic implications. The aging process often leads to physical, psychological, and social changes that can negatively affect quality of life. Thus, ensuring a high quality of life is crucial for achieving successful aging. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the quality of life and successful aging among elderly individuals in Cimahi City. A cross-sectional study was conducted with 128 elderly participants, selected proportionally. The WHOQOL-BREF and SAS were used to assess quality of life and successful aging, respectively. Bivariate analysis was performed using the Chi-square test at a significance level of p<0.05. A significant relationship was found between successful aging and the physical (p=0.003), psychological (p=0.000), and environmental (p=0.002) domains of quality of life. However, no significant association was observed in the social domain (p=0.114). The results suggest that physical health, psychological well-being, and environmental support are key factors contributing to successful aging. Social relationships, though important, did not show a statistically significant impact in this study. Health interventions and policies aimed at promoting successful aging should prioritize improving the quality of life for the elderly, particularly by enhancing physical and mental health and ensuring a supportive and secure living environment.

This study concludes that quality of life in the physical, psychological, and environmental domains is significantly associated with the achievement of successful aging among older adults in Cimahi City.Although the social domain is an important component of overall well-being, it did not demonstrate a statistically significant relationship in this context. These findings indicate internal factors—such as physical health and psychological resilience—play a more prominent role in determining the quality of aging than social support alone.

Further research should investigate the specific mechanisms through which physical health, psychological well-being, and environmental factors interact to influence successful aging in the Indonesian context, potentially utilizing longitudinal study designs to track changes over time. Additionally, studies could explore the role of cultural factors and social support networks in mediating , particularly focusing on the unique challenges and resources available to elderly individuals in urban versus rural settings. Finally, future research should examine the effectiveness of targeted interventions designed to enhance specific domains of quality of life—such as physical activity programs, mental health support groups, or environmental modifications—in promoting successful aging outcomes, and assess the long-term sustainability and scalability of these interventions within the Indonesian healthcare system. These investigations will contribute to a more nuanced understanding of successful aging and inform the development of evidence-based policies and programs tailored to the needs of Indonesias growing elderly population.
