PLN (Persero), especially in the PLN Bali Distribution Unit, PT. Sriti Sakti Abadi is required to always provide maximum performance in electricity services. Human resources are the main asset in achieving this performance. This study aims to analyze work motivation and work competence on employee satisfaction and performance. Data were collected through a survey of 53 employees who were sampled in the study. The results of data collection were processed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling. The results of the survey indicate that motivation has no significant effect on employee performance, motivation has a positive and significant effect on employee job satisfaction, competence has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, competence has a positive and significant effect on employee job satisfaction, job satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, job satisfaction is unable to mediate the effect of motivation on employee performance, job satisfaction is unable to mediate the effect of competence on employee performance.
Based on the analysis, motivation does not significantly affect employee performance, but positively influences job satisfaction.Competence positively and significantly affects both employee performance and job satisfaction.Job satisfaction also positively and significantly impacts employee performance.However, job satisfaction does not mediate the relationship between motivation or competence and employee performance.These findings suggest that improving employee competence and job satisfaction are crucial for enhancing performance at PT.
Future research should investigate the influence of leadership styles and organizational culture on employee performance, potentially revealing additional factors that contribute to success at PT. Sriti Sakti Abadi. Expanding the study to include a broader range of employees and similar companies within the construction and mechanical installation sectors would enhance the generalizability of the findings. Furthermore, a mixed-methods approach, incorporating qualitative data collection techniques like interviews, could provide a deeper understanding of the nuances of employee motivation and job satisfaction, uncovering insights beyond quantitative measures. Specifically, exploring how employees perceive the balance between their contributions and the rewards they receive, as suggested by equity theory, could offer valuable guidance for improving employee engagement and performance. Finally, investigating the impact of specific training programs designed to enhance employee competence, coupled with an assessment of their long-term effects on performance and job satisfaction, would provide actionable recommendations for human resource development initiatives.
