West Sumatra Province, especially Padang City, is one of the earthquake-prone areas because it is located on the west coast of Sumatra, which is tectonically close to the subduction zone. As an area that is prone to earthquakes, knowledge about earthquake-resistant structures is very important. This study examines the condition of a government buildings resistance to seismic behavior using pushover analysis, a method of performance-based design. The analysis, conducted with the ATC-40 standard, indicates that the building is experiencing immediate occupancy conditions.

The study evaluated the performance level of a seven-story building in Padang using pushover analysis based on the ATC-40 method.The results indicate that the buildings performance level is categorized as Immediate Occupancy (IO), meaning it can withstand earthquake loads without significant structural or non-structural damage.This suggests the building is sufficiently resilient to earthquake forces in its region.

Penelitian lebih lanjut dapat dilakukan untuk menginvestigasi efektivitas penggunaan material komposit dalam meningkatkan ketahanan bangunan terhadap gempa bumi, dengan fokus pada perbandingan kinerja antara bangunan konvensional dan bangunan dengan material komposit. Selain itu, studi yang mendalam mengenai pengaruh variasi desain pondasi terhadap respons struktur bangunan saat terjadi gempa dapat memberikan wawasan penting untuk optimasi desain fondasi. Terakhir, pengembangan model analisis yang lebih canggih, seperti analisis nonlinear time history, dapat dilakukan untuk memprediksi perilaku struktur bangunan secara lebih akurat dalam menghadapi berbagai skenario gempa, termasuk gempa dengan karakteristik yang berbeda-beda dan intensitas yang bervariasi, sehingga dapat meningkatkan keandalan desain bangunan tahan gempa dan mengurangi risiko kerusakan serta kerugian jiwa akibat bencana alam ini. Penelitian-penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi signifikan dalam meningkatkan keselamatan dan keberlanjutan bangunan di wilayah rawan gempa.
