Agarwood (gaharu) from Aquilaria sp. has been a treasured resin natural fragrance for thousands of years, prized for its uniqueness and scent. However, its rarity in the wild has prompted innovative strategies to boost production, from establishing sustainable plantations to optimizing distillation methods. This study presents an approach to enhancing agarwood yield through fermentation pretreatment using Fusarium sp. for 1 to 4 weeks. Following this, we conduct hydrodistillation and analyze the agarwood oil components via GC-MS (Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry). These findings reveal a significant increase in agarwood oil yield and enriched chemical profiles, demonstrating the effectiveness of Fusarium sp. as a pretreatment solution. This research is useful for sustainable agarwood production and highlights the potential of leveraging natural methods to enhance this exceptional fragrance.

Penelitian lebih lanjut perlu dilakukan untuk mengidentifikasi enzim spesifik yang dihasilkan oleh *Fusarium sp.* dan perannya dalam degradasi dinding sel kayu gaharu, sehingga dapat dioptimalkan proses praperlakuan fermentasi. Studi komparatif perlu dilakukan dengan menggunakan berbagai jenis *Fusarium* atau mikroorganisme lain untuk menentukan mikroorganisme yang paling efektif dalam meningkatkan rendemen dan kualitas minyak gaharu. Selain itu, penelitian perlu dilakukan untuk mengeksplorasi potensi aplikasi minyak gaharu yang dihasilkan dari proses fermentasi ini dalam industri parfum, kosmetik, atau farmasi, serta menguji aktivitas biologisnya secara lebih mendalam untuk mengkonfirmasi manfaat farmakologisnya.
