This study discusses the effectiveness of national zakat management in addressing social inequality and promoting equitable welfare distribution in Indonesia. The research is based on the fact that the optimization of zakat distribution remains low, despite the continuous increase in national zakat potential each year. The purpose of this study is to analyze the extent to which national zakat management supports social justice, to examine its contribution as an Islamic economic instrument aligned with the values of Pancasila, and to identify the factors that support and hinder its effectiveness. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach, using secondary data sources such as annual BAZNAS reports, BPS publications, government regulations, and related academic literature. The findings indicate that the effectiveness of national zakat management is supported by strong regulations, government involvement, technological innovation, and increasing public awareness. However, its implementation still faces challenges such as low zakat literacy, lack of synergy among zakat institutions, limited human resources, and insufficient data integration. Therefore, optimizing zakat management requires enhancing literacy, strengthening institutional collaboration, and advancing digitalization to reinforce the role of zakat in achieving social justice in Indonesia.

The effectiveness of national zakat management in Indonesia is determined by the synergy between regulations, institutions, technological innovation, and public participation. While strong regulations and government support provide a foundation, the effectiveness is hampered by low zakat literacy, weak coordination between zakat institutions, limited human resources, and a lack of integrated national data. Therefore, improving zakat literacy, strengthening institutional collaboration, and optimizing digitalization are crucial steps to ensure zakat effectively serves as a pillar of economic equity and social justice in Indonesia.

Further research should explore the potential of integrating zakat management with national social welfare systems, utilizing digital platforms to enhance transparency and reach. Investigating the long-term impact of productive zakat programs on mustahik empowerment is crucial, alongside a comparative analysis of zakat management models across different regions in Indonesia. Additionally, studies focusing on the role of zakat literacy programs in fostering greater public awareness and participation are needed. These investigations should also consider the development of standardized data integration protocols between BAZNAS, LAZ, and government agencies to improve the accuracy of mustahik targeting and program evaluation. Finally, research could examine the feasibility of incorporating behavioral economics principles into zakat campaigns to encourage greater voluntary contributions and promote a culture of philanthropy within Indonesian society, ultimately strengthening the role of zakat in achieving broader socio-economic development goals.
