This study examines mosques role in religious development among the Serawai ethnic group in South Bengkulu through a cultural dawah approach. The scope includes religious activities, integration of Islamic values with local customs, and community responses to culturally accommodating dawah programs. The method employed is a qualitative ethnographic design involving participatory observation, in-depth interviews with religious and traditional leaders, and document analysis related to mosque activities. Findings reveal that mosques function as centers for religious education as well as agents of socio-cultural transformation, successfully integrating Islamic values with Serawai traditions harmoniously. The cultural dawah approach uses traditional arts and local language to enhance youth engagement in religious activities. The main conclusion states that successful religious development among the Serawai depends heavily on the mosques ability to adapt its dawah methods to local cultural contexts without compromising Islamic principles.

Mosques function as centers of integration between Islamic values and local wisdom, and as agents of socio-cultural transformation for the Serawai people.Through various religious activities involving traditional elements, mosques have successfully created a space for dialogue between generations and strengthened the cultural identity of the Serawai community. The study confirms that mosques can function as effective agents of social transformation by integrating Islamic values with local customs, attracting youth engagement, and adapting to technological developments.

Further research should explore the long-term impact of mosque-community interactions on religious development and cultural preservation. Investigating the effectiveness of integrating digital technology into dawah programs for younger generations is crucial. Additionally, studies should examine the potential for replicating successful models of collaboration between religious and traditional leaders in other regions facing similar challenges, focusing on how to balance Sharia principles with local traditions and foster inclusive religious practices. These studies should also consider the socio-economic factors influencing religious development and explore how mosques can contribute to community empowerment and sustainable development, ultimately strengthening the identity and resilience of the Serawai Tribe in the face of globalization.
