A quarter-life crisis during emerging adulthood is triggered by various worries in the future regarding careers, romantic, and social relationships. This study aims to test the role of anchor personality dimensions in predicting a quarter-life crisis in emerging adulthood. The participants of this study were 279 people in the 18-25 year age group. This study was conducted with the quantitative approach using a survey method through social media. The instruments used were the Quarter Life Crisis Scale and Anchor Personality Inventory. The results of the analysis using the multiple linear regression method showed that anchor virtues have a significant negative relationship in predicting quarter-life crises. However, anchor materials and others show a significant positive relationship in predicting the quarter-life crisis. The implications of this research empirically show the importance of emerging adulthood to be oriented towards virtues to prevent quarter-life crisis and achieve optimal psychological functioning.

This study investigated the role of anchor personality orientation in predicting quarter-life crises among emerging adults. The findings revealed that anchor materials and others contribute to increased quarter-life crisis, while anchor virtues significantly prevent it.These results underscore the importance of personality orientation, particularly a focus on virtues, in navigating the challenges of emerging adulthood and achieving psychological wellbeing.

Future research should explore the relationship between anchor personality and quarter-life crises in more diverse demographic groups, considering factors like age, marital status, occupation, and cultural background to enhance the generalizability of findings. Investigating the potential mediating role of anchor materials in the association between self-oriented anchors and quarter-life crises could provide a more nuanced understanding of the underlying mechanisms. Furthermore, studies should examine the influence of socio-cultural contexts on the experience of quarter-life crises, recognizing that developmental stages are shaped by cultural norms and expectations, and how these factors interact with personality orientation to impact wellbeing. These investigations will contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced by emerging adults and inform the development of targeted interventions to promote psychological resilience and positive development during this critical life stage.
