The Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker), as the leading public organization responsible for the employment sector, needs to improve organizational governance and human resource adaptability to address the challenges of current environmental changes. This study aims to determine the role of workforce agility and perceived organization support on adaptive performance at public sector organizations in the manpower sector. The research method used was quantitative, with data collection through a survey. The population in this study was all civil servants (ASN) in the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia, using a purposive sampling technique, involving 93 respondents. Data analysis used IBM SPSS 25 software. The results of the regression analysis show that simultaneously, workforce agility and perceived organizational support have a significant effect on adaptive performance, with the calculated F value > F table and significance < 0.05. Partially, workforce agility (p = 0.000) has a significant effect on adaptive performance, while perceived organizational support (p = 0.069) does not show a direct significant effect. These findings indicate that employee work agility is a key factor in encouraging adaptability in manpower public organizations.
This study concludes that workforce agility has a significant and positive influence on adaptive performance in public organizations within the manpower sector.While perceived organizational support does not directly impact adaptive performance, the combination of workforce agility and organizational support together significantly influences adaptive performance.Further research should explore mediating variables like employee engagement or resilience and consider longitudinal models to examine the dynamic relationship between these variables over time.
Based on the findings, future research should investigate the mediating role of employee engagement and resilience in the relationship between perceived organizational support and adaptive performance. Additionally, exploring the impact of different leadership styles on fostering workforce agility within the Ministry of Manpower could provide valuable insights. Furthermore, a longitudinal study tracking the long-term effects of agility training programs on employee adaptive capabilities and organizational performance is recommended. These studies should aim to identify specific interventions and strategies that can enhance both individual adaptability and the overall responsiveness of the public sector to evolving workforce challenges, ultimately contributing to more effective policy implementation and improved public service delivery. The research could also examine how different types of organizational support, such as developmental opportunities or work-life balance initiatives, differentially impact adaptive performance. Finally, investigating the role of digital literacy and technological adaptability as components of workforce agility would be beneficial in understanding how to prepare the workforce for future challenges in the rapidly changing employment landscape.
