Back pain is a common discomfort during pregnancy, especially in late pregnancy or those with a history of back pain. Prenatal yoga can relieve back pain by promoting good posture and stretching the spines central nervous system. This study aimed to determine the effect of yoga exercise on back pain among pregnant women in the third trimester. A pre-experimental study with one group pretest posttest design was conducted involving 30 pregnant women in the third trimester, divided into treatment (yoga) and control (no yoga) groups of 15 each. The Faces Pain Scale-Revised (FPS-R) questionnaire was used. Results showed a significant effect of prenatal yoga in relieving back pain (p<0.05). It was concluded that prenatal yoga is beneficial for relieving back pain among pregnant women in the third trimester and is considered an appropriate method for supporting a successful pregnancy.

The study concluded that prenatal yoga is beneficial for relieving back pain among pregnant women in the third trimester.Therefore, prenatal yoga is considered an appropriate method for supporting a successful pregnancy.Furthermore, there was a significant difference in pain levels between pregnant women who performed yoga and those who did not, demonstrating yogas effectiveness in relieving pain.

Penelitian lebih lanjut perlu dilakukan untuk mengeksplorasi jenis-jenis yoga prenatal yang paling efektif untuk mengurangi nyeri punggung pada ibu hamil, dengan mempertimbangkan perbedaan usia kehamilan dan tingkat keparahan nyeri. Selain itu, studi komparatif yang melibatkan kelompok kontrol dengan intervensi lain, seperti fisioterapi atau akupunktur, dapat memberikan pemahaman yang lebih komprehensif mengenai efektivitas relatif dari berbagai metode penanganan nyeri punggung pada kehamilan. Penelitian kualitatif juga dapat dilakukan untuk menggali pengalaman subjektif ibu hamil dalam mengikuti kelas yoga prenatal, termasuk manfaat psikologis dan sosial yang dirasakan, serta faktor-faktor yang dapat memengaruhi kepatuhan terhadap program yoga. Dengan demikian, hasil penelitian ini dapat digunakan untuk mengembangkan protokol yoga prenatal yang lebih terstandarisasi dan personalisasi, serta meningkatkan kualitas pelayanan kesehatan maternitas secara keseluruhan.
