This research highlights its potential as a sustainable alternative to synthetic inks. The value of agricultural waste in promoting green chemistry and sustainable practices is emphasized. It provides a practical example for environmental education, encouraging innovation in biodegradable materials and raising awareness about eco-friendly alternatives in the art and packaging industries. This study aims to develop an eco-friendly natural ink using dragon fruit peel, leveraging its vibrant betacyanin pigments. The ink is formulated with activated charcoal to enhance stability, offering a biodegradable, non-toxic option. Experimental procedures included ink formulation and user trials in whiteboard applications, demonstrating good adhesion and satisfactory performance. However, stabilizing the natural pigments to ensure colour durability and prevent fading remains a key challenge.

This research successfully demonstrated the production of eco-friendly ink from dragon fruit peels and charcoal as a safer alternative to conventional markers.The utilization of natural pigments and binders reduces the environmental impact of food waste and offers a sustainable solution.The resulting markers are suitable for everyday use, particularly in educational settings, without compromising effectiveness.

Penelitian lebih lanjut dapat dilakukan untuk mengoptimalkan formula tinta agar menghasilkan warna yang lebih cerah dan tahan lama, misalnya dengan mengeksplorasi kombinasi berbagai jenis bahan pengikat alami atau teknik enkapsulasi pigmen. Selain itu, studi komparatif perlu dilakukan untuk membandingkan kinerja tinta dari kulit buah naga dengan tinta berbahan dasar limbah organik lainnya, seperti kulit pisang atau ampas kopi, guna mengidentifikasi potensi terbaik dalam hal kualitas, biaya, dan dampak lingkungan. Terakhir, penelitian mengenai potensi komersialisasi tinta ini, termasuk analisis pasar dan studi kelayakan produksi skala besar, dapat membantu mewujudkan pemanfaatan limbah pertanian secara berkelanjutan dan memberikan manfaat ekonomi bagi masyarakat.
