Amid the rising intolerance and radicalism among Indonesian university students, this study aims to describe Abdur Rahman Al-Sudaiss wasathiyyah concept from his work Bulugh al-Amal fi Tahqiqi al-Wasathiyyah wa al-Itidal and analyze its implementation at PTKIS such as STID Mohammad Natsir and STAI Al-Hidayah Bogor. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, utilizing library research, content analysis, observation, and interviews. Key findings reveal tawassuth (middle path), itidal (justice), and tasamuh (tolerance) as the core of Al-Sudaiss wasathiyyah, successfully applied through PAI curriculum integration, interfaith dialogue, and community service. This model effectively counters right- and left-wing extremism, aligns with Kemenag RI policies, and contributes to national harmony in diversity through contextual and inclusive Islamic higher education.

Al-Sudaiss wasathiyyah framework provides a Quranically grounded, institutionally replicable model for religious moderation in Indonesian private PTKIs.Integrating this framework into PAI curricula, RMB activities, and community service programs demonstrably counters radical tendencies and aligns with Indonesias RPJMN 2020–2024 moderation mainstreaming mandate.The study highlights the importance of a balanced approach to religious education, countering extremism and promoting inclusivity within Indonesian higher education institutions.

Further research should expand the study to include a larger, more diverse sample of PTKIs to enhance the generalizability of the findings. Longitudinal studies are needed to track the long-term impact of the Wasathiyyah PAI Matrix on student resilience and attitudes towards religious moderation. Additionally, developing AI-based tools to counter extremist narratives on platforms like TikTok, grounded in the principles of wasathiyyah, could be a promising avenue for future investigation. These efforts will strengthen the evidence base for implementing this framework and contribute to a more harmonious and tolerant society. Exploring the adaptation of al-Sudaiss framework for female students and developing culturally sensitive approaches to implementation are also crucial next steps. Finally, fostering collaborations between Indonesian and Saudi Arabian institutions to share best practices and refine the model will further enhance its effectiveness in addressing the challenges of religious extremism and promoting moderation.
