International Conference on Fundamental and Applied Research (I-CFAR)International Conference on Fundamental and Applied Research (I-CFAR)The Village Credit Institution in Bali as a savings and loan business entity owned by a customary village, functions and aims primarily to encourage the economic development of rural communities through targeted savings and effective capital distribution. This research aims to determine the model and function of LPDs in improving the economy of the Balinese people. The research methodology is a qualitative descriptive method with observations, interviews, triangulation, and documentation. The findings indicate that Village Credit Institutions (LPD) operate as financial institutions collecting and channeling community funds within customary village administration areas based on kinship. They rely on the number of villagers and close family ties for development, serving as a forum for village wealth and supporting the standard of living and development of the Customary Village. LPDs encourage economic resilience through targeted savings and effective capital distribution, assisting small entrepreneurship, creating business opportunities, increasing purchasing power, and preserving Hindu culture. The conclusion is that the LPD continues to exist and is able to improve the economy of the Balinese community in general and improve the national economy in particular.
The research concludes that the LPD remains a vital institution, demonstrably contributing to the economic improvement of the Balinese community and, by extension, the national economy.The LPDs success is rooted in its community-based structure, leveraging kinship and local resources for sustainable development.Its functions extend beyond financial services to encompass cultural preservation and the support of small-scale entrepreneurship, solidifying its role as a cornerstone of the Balinese economic landscape.
Penelitian lebih lanjut perlu dilakukan untuk mengeksplorasi dampak digitalisasi terhadap keberlanjutan dan inklusivitas LPD, khususnya bagaimana teknologi dapat dimanfaatkan untuk menjangkau masyarakat yang kurang terlayani dan meningkatkan efisiensi operasional. Selain itu, studi komparatif antara model LPD di Bali dengan lembaga keuangan serupa di daerah lain di Indonesia dapat memberikan wawasan berharga tentang praktik terbaik dan potensi adaptasi untuk memperkuat ekonomi lokal. Terakhir, penelitian mendalam mengenai peran LPD dalam melestarikan budaya dan kearifan lokal, serta bagaimana hal ini berkontribusi pada pembangunan ekonomi yang berkelanjutan, akan memperkaya pemahaman kita tentang model pembangunan yang unik dan relevan bagi Indonesia.
