Low back pain is a prevalent issue worldwide, particularly in Indonesia and among pregnant women in the second and third trimesters. Over 70% of pregnant women experience some form of low back discomfort during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. This study describes low back pain in a pregnant woman in her third trimester, utilizing a descriptive case study approach conducted from February 16-23, 2023. The subject, Mrs. K, a 17-year-old woman, received continuity of midwifery care, including prenatal yoga exercises at least twice a week for 30-60 minutes, which demonstrated a reduction in low back pain complaints. Combining yoga with sleeping on the left side and pillow support is suggested as an effective intervention.

Continuity of midwifery care, incorporating yoga exercises at least twice weekly for 30-60 minutes, effectively reduces low back pain.Recommending the mother to sleep on her left side with pillow support further alleviates pressure on the back. These interventions, when combined with prenatal yoga, provide a comprehensive approach to managing low back pain during the third trimester of pregnancy.

Further research should investigate the long-term effects of prenatal yoga on postpartum recovery and chronic back pain in women. A comparative study examining the effectiveness of different yoga styles and frequencies on low back pain during pregnancy could provide more tailored recommendations. Additionally, exploring the psychological benefits of prenatal yoga, such as reduced anxiety and improved mood, and their impact on pain perception would be valuable. These studies could be conducted using larger sample sizes and randomized controlled trials to strengthen the evidence base, ultimately improving the quality of care for pregnant women experiencing low back pain and promoting healthier pregnancies. Investigating the role of personalized yoga programs, tailored to individual needs and pain levels, could also optimize treatment outcomes and enhance patient satisfaction.
