The main purpose of this study was to assess university students financial experiences during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research adopted an explanatory sequential mixed methods research design, utilizing a survey of 181 students on work-related learning through questionnaires and qualitative interviews. Data analysis was performed using IBM SPSS Statistic 27. The study revealed that a majority of students lacked a budget, frequently ran out of money, and did not have funds reserved for emergencies related to the pandemic, relying on borrowing from family and friends. Consequently, most students experienced financial difficulties due to the pandemic.

This study concludes that university students generally exhibit limited financial management skills, particularly in budgeting and saving. The Covid-19 pandemic exacerbated these challenges, leading to widespread financial hardship among students due to job losses and income reductions.Enhancing financial literacy and providing support during crises are crucial for improving students financial well-being.

Future research should explore the long-term financial consequences of the pandemic on university graduates, specifically examining its impact on their debt management and investment behaviors. It is also important to investigate the effectiveness of different financial literacy programs tailored to the unique needs of university students, considering factors such as academic discipline and socio-economic background. Furthermore, a study could focus on the role of universities in providing financial support and counseling services to students facing economic hardship, evaluating the accessibility and impact of these resources. These investigations will help build a stronger understanding of financial vulnerabilities among students and contribute to the development of evidence-based interventions to enhance their financial resilience and future prosperity.
