Tobacco is one of the plants that has high value and is easy to grow in Indonesia and has an influence on society and economic development, especially agriculture. This study aims to determine whether income, land area, length of education, length of work, and household consumption affect the welfare of tobacco farmers in Banaran Village, Tembarak District, Temanggung Regency. The population in this study were the people of Banaran Village, Tembarak District, Temanggung Regency. The sample in this study used a purposive sampling method, namely 200 samples. This research uses descriptive analysis and multinomial logit test. The results of the research conducted showed that there were two variables that had a positive and significant influence, namely the variable land area of 0.034 and length of work variable of 0.048, while the variables that were not significant were income of 0.407, length of education of 0.209, and household consumption variable of 0.275. And for the simultaneous test all the independent variables used influence the welfare of tobacco farmers.
Based on the research conducted, it can be concluded that income and household consumption do not significantly affect the welfare of tobacco farmers.However, land area and length of work have a positive and significant impact on the welfare of tobacco farmers.These findings suggest that increasing land ownership and work experience can improve the welfare of tobacco farmers in Banaran Village.Further research is needed to explore other factors that may influence farmer welfare.
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, beberapa saran penelitian lanjutan dapat diajukan untuk memperdalam pemahaman mengenai kesejahteraan petani tembakau. Pertama, penelitian lebih lanjut dapat dilakukan untuk mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor lain di luar variabel yang diteliti dalam studi ini yang mungkin mempengaruhi kesejahteraan petani tembakau, seperti akses terhadap kredit, teknologi pertanian, atau pasar. Kedua, studi komparatif dapat dilakukan dengan membandingkan kesejahteraan petani tembakau di Banaran Village dengan petani tembakau di wilayah lain dengan karakteristik sosio-ekonomi yang berbeda untuk mengidentifikasi praktik-praktik terbaik dan tantangan yang dihadapi. Ketiga, penelitian longitudinal dapat dilakukan untuk melacak perubahan kesejahteraan petani tembakau dari waktu ke waktu dan mengevaluasi dampak dari intervensi kebijakan atau program pembangunan yang ditujukan untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan mereka. Penelitian-penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan informasi yang lebih komprehensif dan relevan bagi pembuat kebijakan dan pemangku kepentingan lainnya dalam merumuskan strategi yang efektif untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan petani tembakau di Indonesia.
