The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the application of the Snowball-Throwing learning model based on local wisdom on the critical reasoning ability of grade IV students in science lessons at SDN Lalangon 1. A quantitative method was used in this study with a quasi-experimental design of a nonequivalent control group, which involved the experimental class and the control class. Simple random sampling was used to determine the control class and the experimental class. Data collection techniques include interviews, tests, observations and documentation. The data were analyzed using descriptive data analysis, normality test, homogeneity, and independent T-test or Mann-Whitney test. The results showed that the average post-test of the control class was lower than that of the experimental class. The independent T-test had a significance value of 0.024 (< 0.05), proving that the Snowball-Throwing model based on local wisdom had a significant effect on students critical reasoning skills. Thus, this learning model is not only effective in improving students critical reasoning skills, but also introducing local wisdom of traditional Sumenep food in a meaningful way.

The study demonstrates a significant positive effect of the Snowball-Throwing learning model, integrated with local wisdom, on the critical reasoning abilities of fourth-grade students at SDN Lalangon 1.Data analysis, including independent T-tests and observation of critical reasoning indicators, confirmed that students in the experimental group exhibited higher post-test scores and improved indicator achievement compared to the control group.Therefore, the Snowball-Throwing model, enriched with local cultural elements, proves to be a more effective pedagogical approach than conventional methods in fostering critical thinking skills and promoting cultural awareness.

Further research should investigate the long-term effects of integrating local wisdom into the Snowball-Throwing model on students critical reasoning skills and their appreciation for local culture. Additionally, studies could explore the adaptability of this model to different subjects and grade levels, examining its effectiveness in diverse educational contexts. Finally, research is needed to determine how the Snowball-Throwing model can be optimized to address specific learning challenges faced by students with varying cognitive abilities, potentially through differentiated instruction and personalized learning approaches, to ensure equitable access to its benefits and maximize its impact on student learning outcomes. These investigations will contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of the models potential and inform its wider implementation in educational settings, ultimately fostering a generation of critical thinkers who are deeply connected to their cultural heritage.
