A work accident is an unexpected event that can cause harm to the work process, resulting in human and property casualties. Prevention must be carried out by reducing hazard factors, considering unsafe actions, unsafe conditions, and safety management systems, as well as the workers mental and physical condition. This descriptive-analytic study with a cross-sectional design involved 45 respondents, utilizing total population sampling. Logistic regression analysis using Stata 14 revealed a significant relationship between the use of PPE (P-value: 0.001, OR: 14.14, CI: 2.86–60.21) and unsafe acts (P-value: 0.015, OR: 5.5, CI: 1.39–21.71) with work accidents. The study suggests that workshop owners provide protective equipment to workers to enhance comfort, safety, and reduce hazards, and implement methods to increase worker confidence and focus during welding.

Based on the research conducted at welding workshops in Johan Pahlawan District, West Aceh Regency, involving 45 respondents, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and unsafe acts with work accidents.001) and unsafe acts (P-value = 0.015) are significantly associated with work accidents in the area. This research highlights the importance of prioritizing safety measures and providing adequate protection for welders to mitigate the risk of work-related injuries.

Further research should investigate the specific types of unsafe acts most prevalent among welders in Aceh Barat, utilizing observational studies to identify patterns and contributing factors. Additionally, a qualitative study exploring the barriers to PPE usage, such as comfort, cost, or lack of training, could provide valuable insights for targeted interventions. Finally, research could focus on developing and evaluating the effectiveness of culturally tailored safety training programs that address the unique challenges faced by welders in this region, aiming to improve safety awareness and promote proactive risk management practices. These studies will contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of work-related injuries and inform the development of effective prevention strategies, ultimately enhancing the well-being and productivity of welders in Aceh Barat.
