Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in West Java face numerous challenges in the digital era, requiring adaptation to survive in a new competitive environment. This research identifies factors affecting SME business performance in the region, investigating Digital Literacy, Engagement in Digital Initiatives, Internal Digital Culture, Government Support Policies, and Market Competitiveness using Partial Least Squares analysis. The study reveals significant effects of Digital Literacy, Engagement, and Digital Culture on at least one dimension of Business Performance, while Government Support Policies and Market Competitiveness appear less relevant but still have a role. Evidence suggests governments have provided opportunities for SMEs, though not optimally, and market forces drive adaptation in the sporting goods industry. This research offers valuable recommendations for policymakers and practitioners, emphasizing the importance of understanding internal digital cultures, economies, and financing opportunities in West Java SMEs to develop successful firm development strategies.

This study demonstrates that digital literacy and employee engagement are crucial catalysts for fostering a strong internal digital culture, ultimately leading to improved SME performance in West Java.While government support policies and market competitiveness play a role, their impact is less pronounced than internal factors.Therefore, prioritizing the development of digital skills and fostering a culture of digital innovation within SMEs is essential for sustained growth and competitiveness in the evolving digital landscape.

Berdasarkan temuan penelitian ini, beberapa saran penelitian lanjutan dapat diajukan. Pertama, penelitian lebih lanjut dapat dilakukan untuk menginvestigasi secara mendalam bagaimana karakteristik spesifik budaya digital internal, seperti tingkat kolaborasi dan eksperimen, berkorelasi dengan berbagai aspek kinerja bisnis SME. Kedua, penelitian dapat difokuskan pada pengembangan model intervensi yang efektif untuk meningkatkan literasi digital dan keterlibatan karyawan di kalangan SME, dengan mempertimbangkan konteks lokal dan tantangan unik yang dihadapi oleh bisnis-bisnis ini. Ketiga, penelitian lanjutan dapat mengeksplorasi peran mediasi dari inovasi dalam hubungan antara literasi digital, budaya digital, dan kinerja bisnis, serta bagaimana pemerintah dapat merancang kebijakan yang lebih efektif untuk mendorong inovasi digital di kalangan SME. Penelitian-penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan wawasan yang lebih komprehensif tentang dinamika transformasi digital di kalangan SME Indonesia dan membantu merumuskan strategi yang lebih tepat sasaran untuk meningkatkan daya saing dan keberlanjutan bisnis mereka.
