Educational research plays a critical role in identifying effective pedagogical approaches, understanding learning challenges, and informing policy decisions aimed at improving educational outcomes, yet a persistent gap remains between the production of research findings and their uptake by key stakeholders. This study investigates the challenges and effective strategies for communicating educational research findings to policymakers, educators, parents, and the general public in Nigeria. Employing a qualitative methodology based on the analysis of 80 online documents (reports, articles, policy papers, and websites), the research examines key communication barriers, successful strategies, researcher–stakeholder engagement mechanisms, and evaluation methods. The findings underscore the need for tailored communication approaches that emphasize visual aids, storytelling, and participatory methods to enhance understanding and uptake of research evidence in policy and practice. The study recommends establishing dedicated communication channels, fostering collaborations between researchers and stakeholders, and implementing robust evaluation frameworks to ensure the effectiveness and impact of educational research dissemination efforts.

The study concludes that effective communication of educational research in Nigeria necessitates a multifaceted approach.Key challenges include technical jargon, limited dissemination channels, and misalignment with policy cycles.Successful strategies involve tailored messaging, leveraging trusted intermediaries, and fostering direct engagement with stakeholders.Robust evaluations are crucial to demonstrate impact and refine future communication efforts.

Future research should explore the development of culturally relevant communication materials tailored to the specific needs of diverse communities within Nigeria, addressing language barriers and varying levels of digital literacy. Furthermore, studies could investigate the effectiveness of integrating research findings into pre-service teacher education programs, equipping educators with the skills to critically evaluate and apply research in their practice. Finally, research is needed to assess the long-term impact of different communication strategies on policy changes and educational outcomes, utilizing robust evaluation frameworks that account for contextual factors and attribution challenges. These investigations should move beyond simply identifying effective strategies to understanding the mechanisms through which research influences decision-making and ultimately improves the quality of education for all Nigerian learners, requiring a collaborative effort between researchers, policymakers, educators, and community stakeholders to ensure that research findings are translated into meaningful and sustainable improvements in the education system.
